Listening to our RE/MAX network in the U.S. we do know is Chinese Buyers have been active in California over the last three to four years. Top Realors report most Chinese Buyers are looking for strong investment opportunities first and ‘explore’ the market. Once they are comfortable with environment, then they make plans for family moves for the next generation. Word of mouth, family and friends is still the strongest draw as to where to invest. Chinese buyers to the California market are expected to continue to grow.

Right now, B.C. has one of the strongest performing economies in Canada which is buoying consumer and home buyer confidence; despite negative sentiment concerning the collapse of the oil prices. So far the influx of Chinese investors to the North Okanagan and Shuswap in the B.C. interior has been limited.  Certainly no stampede, yet. Perhaps in the near future we’ll see some trickle through to the interior.
