Published: December 21, 2016Season’s Greetings to you! At this time of year we like to pause in our busy schedules to send a heart-felt ‘thank you!’ to the amazing people we meet and have the privilege to work with every day.
2016 was a lively year for the Okanagan and Shuswap real estate markets. Sales activity during November and December remained well above the same time-frame last year, but we are feeling a steady return to more ‘normal’ levels. As always, the market is fluid, but most experts forecast the market will continue to normalize into the New Year. 2016 was unpredictable, a little stability sounds good!

Our office is still busy with Buyers. We think it will be steady right through Christmas. Our RE/MAX office on Silver Star is open and the snow is falling. Simply gorgeous! Even if you don’t ski, Silver Star has so much to offer and it’s a great way to get into the festive Season. Tube Town is great fun for all ages! Or, simply bundle up, take a walk through Village and have a hot bevy at the newly remodeled Red Antler. Just be sure to pop by our office to say hello.

Stats for November 2016 Compared to November 2015
- Overall sales up 7% to 172 units from 160.
- Single Family home sales down 4% to 73 units.
- New listings, 211 units, up 5%.
- Active listings 1,299, down 23%.
- Single Family homes listed, increased 37% to 92 units.
- Average days to sell 130, up 7% from 122 days.
Shuswap Real Estate Market (Salmon Arm, Shuswap & Sicamous)
Stats for November 2016 Compared to November 2015
- Overall sales up 3% to 77 units.
- Single Family home sales decreased 18% to 27 units.
- New listings, 116 units, up 40%!
- Active listings 999, down 14%.
- Single Family homes listed, increased 59% to 43 units!
- Average days to sell 159, up 10% from 176 days.
