Vernon Scorehawks – Donnelly and Eyers

Cheering on our Vernon Scorehawks

The Vernon Scorehawks are an Under 16, adapted hockey team, that have been playing for 8 seasons now. The team was started by my wife Sherry and I as well as Volunteers, Rob Morris and Mike Pitura. As well, we have several dedicated volunteer coaches, that come out every week, travelling to road games and tournaments, ensuring the fun and success of the team.

As an adapted team, we include kids that have some limitations, that don’t enable them to play in a regular Minor Hockey program. Also included, are some siblings that help to push the pace and make participants more comfortable in their experience. We try to give the kids as close to a real hockey experience as possible.Since our inaugural season when only a team in Kelowna existed, programs have built in other communities including; Kamloops, Penticton, Surrey and Vancouver.

“…but I’m telling you coach, he wasn’t my check.”

At the end of each season one of the teams, hosts a tournament where the kids play three games, have a skills competition and then wrap everything up with a fantastic banquet at the end. This year’s tournament was hosted by Pentiction and everyone had a fantastic time. This video clip was done by the Surrey and Vancouver teams that are sponsored by the Canucks Autism Network. As you can see it is a very special time for the kids.

Enjoy!!
